I've been lately thinking about the women life in villages across India. Do they really have the freedom like those living in towns and cities? Do they really enjoy their daily routine? Do the village people really aware of how to treat the women in and out their families?
Centuries moving. We women in towns and cities with diverse capabilities stepped into many fields, became independent, got unique identities and rights in the society. But only a few of us are brave enough to speak up against the illegal things happening day by day. I saw the cases where the society is not accepting the women to use the fundamental rights issued by the constitution. In some cases, women are not even supposed to speak against their dislikes, no rights to take own decisions though they cross 18 and eligible to take their own decisions. We lack our freedom of opinion. People in villages still consider it as a sin if we protest against gender inequalities. Even the well educated people never ask their daughter's choice about their career or other life decisions. All they expect from the women is to live silently in both maiden's and in-Law's place. For whatever they say, we must simply nod our heads but shouldn't oppose.
Like Men, women shouldn't go for tours, higher education. Parents feel that there is nothing for women to go and conquer something for the country. They only like to see the women cleaning the vessels in the kitchen. They feel like every rupee they spent on their daughter is a real waste. How many fathers are there in our great Indian villages who treat their daughters equally with their sons? Indian government declared many women empowerment Schemes and gave reservations. But how many families are really supporting their daughters to utilize the reservations appropriately? But there have been many protests from few men in the society against the women reservations as if we got all things for free. Rich fathers treat that they are sending their daughters to heaven by fetching them a rich groom. Poor father's consider their pre-committed sins are the causes of their daughter's birth.
Recently I heard the Government gave killing rights to women when they face any exploitation. Women cant even kill a mosquito, how could they possibly kill a person? We are happy, at least families from towns and cities had been giving good encouragement, respect and freedom to their daughters and other women in the society. I wish and hope the government should take up some awareness programs that brings awareness across the village people to treat the women with the same respect and support.
